Explore the very best of North-Latvian & South-Estonian countryside on your way to Tallinn.
Miķelis is a sharp mind who has a keen interest in the world around us. He appreciates places and spaces, moving between them by car, bike, boat or feet, understanding them by loving, hating and becoming a friend with them.
He studies Geography and says he likes it because it involves quite a lot of aspects of our lives such as history, culture, biology and philosophy. Besides his studies, he immerses himself into fine arts: he sings in a choir, acts and draws.
Like a true renaissance man with many hobbies and interests, Miķelis isn’t entirely sure what to do in this life so currently he has his bets on either becoming a beekeeper or the conductor of the National Song Festival of Latvia.
On his tours Miķelis will Tell you stories of local mythology and tradition and if you get lucky, teach you some Latvian folk songs. Also, he is deep into Geology so he can make your tour rock.

Mikelis is a very friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining guide. He has an encyclopaedic grasp of the history of the places we saw en route: Salaspils Memorial, Rundala Palace, Hill of Crosses, Kaunas. Mikelis even sang Latvian songs to us! The time flew by.
Mike was punctual, very prudent and knowledgeable and our trip from Riga to Vilnius was so smooth. The price was not cheap but all worth it. Worth every cent. Highly recommended.
Mikelis gave us a pleasant drive to Kaunas following with Hill of Crosses and Rundāle palace. The city, Kaunas, definitely is worth a visit. The walk is easy and relaxed. Mikelis adjusted to our pace and left us time to shop or have a coffee break to slow down if we need to. We are lucky to have Mikelis - He is very engaging, calm and accommodative. He shared with us the interesting details about life in Latvia. We enjoyed every second of this highly interesting tour.
We booked a private tours for my parents (in their 60s) and I to travel from Vilnius - Riga - Tallinn. We took the Vilnius - Riga tour first, then this tour Riga - Tallinn. Our tour guide for this tour was Mike, he was very friendly, extremely knowledgeable at the locations we visited. The trip was such a great experience, I'd highly recommend this to anyone. Zero complain.
We had the pleasure to be shown around the Gauja nationalpark area by our guide Mikelis. Also, we were lucky enough to visit the Gauja river when no one else was there - truly magical! Can only recommend!
We were delighted to see Mike at the Riga meeting point since he had recently escorted us from Tallinn to Riga. Mike has a good singing voice and is spontaneous with his stories. Like any good story teller, he does not let you know at the beginning that he is going into story mode. The weather cooperated with our journey. Although Mike did not have to deliver us our hotel, he surprised us again by doing just that. It is a wonderful way to enjoy sights while enjoying the weather, Mike's stories, and seeing interesting sights along the way. What a nice combination to create a terrific travel memory.
The tour was absalutely fantastic. I highly reccomend it. A brilliant way to get from One City in one country to another. The tour included 3 castles, a national park a military museum and a bobsleigh track a fab mix of things. We were a small group of 4 plus the tour guide which was a good size fore me. As a solo traveller it was lovely to have a whole day spent with other travellers and not have to do the planning I just had to enjoy it. Our guide Mike was lovely really easy going told us lots of info about each place and interesting personal history too. Its really great value for money amd pretty much the highlight of my trip so far.
Fantastic! Mike is very knowledgeable, thoughtful, good at explaining the culture, and history etc. The ride was comfortable and Fun, singing sessions along the way and some of us took turns to be DJ! The sights was fabulous 👌 Believe me you get more than what you bargain! Thank you Mike, Traveller and the 3 fabulous girls ❤❤❤. Susan Low Singapore 🇸🇬
Overall, an excellent way to transfer from Tallinn to Riga. Lots of history, stories and laughs. Might be nice to stop briefly at the bicycle training area, which we passed along the way. Also, military museum was closed which should have been known in advance. Church wss closed so we could only see from outside. Lunch location was great, which is right after military museum. Because it got dark early, bob sledding track was dark but we did visit as it is last stop before Riga. We had private tour. Mikelis was excellent tour guide with clear English and wonderful stories. Marii arranged this private tour on short notice because we were the only passengers on our booked group tour. Just slight adjustments should have been made for church and military museum being closed. Because this wss private tour, Millie picked us up at Tallinn hotel and dropped us at our Riga hotel, even carrying the luggage into the hotel for us.
We drove with two other passengers. Good conversations. Stoped at many interesting sites. The military museum was unnecessary. The two castles and national park and bobsled track were wonderful. The total trip, though, took too long. A little less time at some places would be good. We left at 9 am and arrived 9pm. An hour earlier would have been better. Mike was a good guide and fun company.
Had a lot of fun going from Tallinn to Riga with Mike. He is really friendly and extremely knowledgable about the history and geography of the country and it was an absolute pleasure to have him as our guide. We saw a lot of beautiful places along the way, had fun at the border, and even stumbled upon a small miliatry festval which was really fun.
Tour was fantastic, the guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and able to engage the group very easily. However, some deodorant and/or a change of t-shirt wouldn't go astray.
Very enjoyable trip- great walk in the national park and Mike was really knowledgable :) lunch stop was lovely and we especially enjoyed the in car sing-a-longs! Thanks for a fabulous day!
We took the trip on August 26th and it was well worth it as was the trip from Vilnius to Riga. There is temptation to just see the 3 Baltic capitals but this is a mistake. These trips enable you to see more of the 3 countries. This tour had 5 different u Interesting stops plus an excellent lunch at a brewery. Mike the guide was excellent. Highly recommended
Excellent way to get from Tallin to Riga. We had a baby with us and Mike was entertaining and engaging and it went perfectly.
Mike was excellent. He was so enthusiastic about the history, geography and culture of both cities and had some great facts and recommendations to share with us. We loved the different spots he took us to and the jokes, anecdotes and stories he shared along the way. One of the best things we did on our holiday in Estonia and Latvia!
A great day with a high energy tour guide. As a solo traveller, spending the day with 8 other people seeing the sights (but with no responsibility) is a great break from my average holiday day walking around, plus you get the the next city on the Helsinki-Tallinn-Riga-Vilnius route that seems to be very, very popular (at least half of the people on my tour were following that route.) Highly recommend! (You should be selling Bobsled/Luge track tshirts, though!)
The tour was good and entertaining. Mike gave ample time to each stop. Lunch was good as well.
12 hours maybe sound long but it was really worth it, we saw interesting places where we would not have get on our own, the guide told good stories, lunch was delicious
Excellent assortment of side visits on the road to Riga. Mike, the guide/raconteur, was an amazing friendly and knowledgeable individual. Not a dull moment.
This day tour was a great experience. The guide is very kind. He asked about our wishes to adapt the tour. We have seen a Lovely little town, have a walk around the gauja river and gone to so many other interesting place. For the lunch, we ate in a restaurant which offers good food for a good price. The guide helped us to choose typical meal and drink. Last but not least, we have talked about latvian situation and culture and he asked question about the place where we live. We had a bad english but he was very patient to repeat slowly when we née it and to understand what we said. So, it was very instructive, plenty of beautiful places and a good human expérience. We highly recommand this tour.
I would recommend this tour. Mike was our tour guide who was very knowledgeable and a lovely guy.
I highly recommend this sightseeing tour. My family really enjoyed getting out of the capitals to see the countryside and other places unique to the two countries. Mike is an excellent tour guide, entertaining and knowledgeable, full of passion about Latvia and the Baltics. He serenaded us with Latvian folk songs that went along with his explanation of the place where we were visiting.
Just as presented and reviewed, this tour is a great way to discover Baltic countries while travelling from one capital to the other. Mikelis was both fun and a very instructive guide.
We had a wonderful day visiting the Hill of Crosses & Rundale Palace. Mikelis was a perfect guide. The history and stories he shared were interesting and informative. The ride didn't seem so long listening to his interesting facts (he even jovially endured a geography quiz from my son). Mikelis never rushed us and was great with the kids. We also enjoyed what the family is now calling "Lunch in Lithuania" at a restaurant that was off the beaten path with delicious food. He was communicative and reached out to me an hour before pick-up to clarify details about the location of our ship. Also, when my father worried he left something in the van, Mikelis was very helpful in rechecking the van for us and even offered to let us come check it ourselves Excellent customer service all around. Do not hesitate to book this tour!
We felt very lucky to have Mike as our tour guide and had fun day out and about in Latvia. The open-air art museum was ok for a stroll but not hugely exciting in my opinion - luckily Mike had a good instinct for what we would find more/less interesting and paced the tour accordingly. So we went on to Kuldiga which for me was the highlight of the tour - lovely town and waterfall, and a nice way to spend some time out of the city. Mike is an exceptional tour guide and a real highlight of our whole trip to the Baltics :)
We had so much fun on this trip with Mike and fellow traveller Shannon - we will treasure the great memories! Mike is a truly gifted tour guide. I've had many guides in many countries in my time, and he's one of the absolute best (possibly THE best). He's great company, giving personal touches to stories, and presents historical/ local information in such an engaging way. We learned a lot about the music, culture, history and geography of the country and all the while it was like hanging out with a friend. Latvia couldn't possibly have a better ambassador :) He even sang for us and let us choose the music in the van. A long day but very interesting and fun - highly recommend.
We enjoyed the tour so much! Michael pur guide was very passionate and knowledgeable about the history of his country and estonia. He also added personal touches like singing and personal stories. We enjoyed very much everything . The best way to travel to Tallin. Thank you!!!!!
Well done, interesting, nice way to go between cities. Thank you
This was such a good trip, I can't recommend it highly enough. Mike's commentary, sharing his knowledge and personal insights really made this trip one of the highlights of our holiday in the Baltics. The sites we visited were very well selected, giving us the opportunity to learn about some important aspects of Latvian and Lithuanian culture and history.
Really interesting places visited, knowledgeable tour guide and a great group to share the experience with. Couldn't ask for much more.
Very interesting and well paced tour. Mike was a fantastic guide giving us all the historical and/or political background of places visited. Hill of Crosses an amazing singular place and holocaust site very moving. Loved the rose gardens at Rundale Palace and we were given tour of an old Baltic Church in Bauska by an elderly parishioner. Mike was a great guide, we loved hearing about the Singing Revolution & also the many songs he sang us in his beautiful bass voice. Highly recommend tour.
Interesting, instructive, fun and very complete tour with Mikelis! I booked the tour because of the program and the reviews were good but I did not expect it to be THAT good. Thank you so much for this tour - I've been telling all my friends to travel to the Baltic countries and use your company to travel from one capital to the next. Mike was a brilliant guide who could answer all questions (sorry, Mike but you were just too good so I had to ask that many), make the complicated history understandable and we forgot the time (12 hours with 7 strangers could have felt like a very long day but the hours flew by). One major regret: the tour from Riga to Vilnius was fully booked and I could not do this again.
So often we hop from big city to big city without seeing the country between. This tour gives you a view of the smaller towns, cultural centers and nature along the way. Mike our guide was very entertaining and informative. He shared folk songs and tales, recent history and various plants and geology. A proud Latvian who wants to share the story.
It was a great tour that allowed us to better understand the history and culture of the people of Latvia and Estonia. The tour guide gave useful info on historical events, was funny, and was evident that he was proud of his country. We were impressed by his singing at the venue where the Singing Revolution took place. Bravo.
This was the perfect way to travel from Tallinn to Riga. This trip allowed us to visit a wide range of interesting places; which would otherwise be missed. Our tour guide Mike was AMAZING! Knowledgeable - with lots of historical information and folk facts, fun, approachable and a great singing voice! He even accommodated our request to visit the swing on the Estonian/Latvian border and car karaoke! His stories about folklore and references to his own experiences were very valuable. Definitely a worthwhile trip! Thank you Mike!
The tour was great. A big shoutout to our guide Mike: he was awesome! He told us many stories about Latvia and Estonia, helped us understanding better the history of these 2 countries, he narrated folk stories about the places we visited, he explained different type of plants and vegetation, etc. he is very knowledgeable and he is also talented: he sang for us a popular song at Viljandi! ( he’s a great at singing!). His English is excellent. The tour was well organized with a good balance between driving time and visiting places. Although the trip is from 9:00 to 21:00, the time went by quickly. Everything was perfect, the only thing I would change is the stop at the War Museum. Although the content is interesting ( and Mike did a great job in explaining things and even shared family stories regarding the Soviet occupation of Latvia) the displays at the museum need some improvement ( the dummies in uniform were a bit outdated) Probably, more time in the nature would be better.
We did the Riga-Tallinn sightseeing tour and it was great. We got to see small local towns that we never would’ve known about normally. Our guide Mike was fantastic, and had loads of interesting information on the areas visited.
A wonderful day between Tallin and Riga...where we got to understand Estonia and Latvia's history and culture. Thank you so much Traveller Tours
We had such a great time on our tour! This was honestly one of the most fun travel days I’ve ever had. Mike was an excellent and knowledgeable guide with a great sense of humor (and a lovely singing voice to boot.) Our group of 4 strangers became fast friends and he put up with all of our antics including spontaneous car karaoke. Why watch the country fly by on a regular bus when you can take a full day road trip instead and see so many amazing sights along the way with a fantastic local guide? Can’t recommend this tour enough.
The tour stops and choices were very educational, entertains and emotional. Mike was a great tour guide/driver. He gave us very insightful accounts on our tour stops. He was very nice, funny, well-informed and very accommodating.
Mike is incredibly knowledgeable about both Estonia and Latvia. His passion for the culture and folklore is palpable, and makes for a wonderful day. You get to see some hidden gems in both countries that you'd probably otherwise miss. I'm so glad I chose this tour.
A superb and our guide (Mike) was excellent. We had to move from Taliinn to Riga and instead of flying or traveling by a coach we decided to use this tour and what a tour it was. We visited places other tourists won't see and we found so much about history of the region. Our guide (Mike) was fantastic, the minibus very comfortable. Strongly recommended.
A really great way of making the most of crossing the border. It’s really easy to just think of the cities when visiting the Baltic countries, however there are amazing locations outside of the capitals too and this trip is a really easy way to visit these locations. Our driver/ guide Mike was brilliant. He shared just the right amount of information at each stop and was able to answer all of our questions. We really valued his personal anecdotes about Latvian independence and his sharing of traditional folk music. Thanks for a brilliant day Mike! Your Latvian lesson came in very handy too :)
Wonderful way to go from Riga to Vilnius. Mike (,Mikelis) was a great tour guide and spoke veery good English. Also funny and informative on the places we went to. Would definitely take this route again!!!
Had a great tour between Riga and Tallin. Got to learn about the history of the Baltics from a local. Got to see parts of the countryside I wouldn’t have been able to see on a motor transfer. Well worth the price/time. Was great to have a tour from someone who was so passionate about his countries History.
We did the Riga to Tallinn sightseeing tour. Guide Mikelis took us for a long day full of sightseeing. We departed on time, the guide was there to greet us. The van was spacy, and very comfortable. We were so glad that we could participate, to enjoy the countryside and to see so much more of both Latvia and Estonia. Started at the bobsleigh track which was fun because we could walk down the track on foot. Soooo funny. The national park with the limestone cliffs was crazy beautiful. The guide explained a lot, let us taste some herbs in nature and he even sang for us. The towns of Cesis and Viljandi both were lovely. Had the opportunity to have lunch in a great restaurant in Valga. For us the least Intresting part was the military museum. But the highlight of the day was that we saw a wild brown bear near the woodlands, just beside the road. Incredible!!!!!! Mikelis was also so sweet to make a stop so I could photography one of the many many stork nests near the farms. I cannot recommend this tour enough, but it wouldn't have been as much fun as we didn't had this fantastic guide Mikelis.Thumbs up guys, keep on the good work!
We had a personal tour on sunday 9 august 2020. our guide (Mikelis) had studied geography, i remember. We really enjoyed the tour. Visited Kaunas, hills of crosses, Salaspils Memorial, Rundāle palace and had a nice local food. Our guide could tell a lot and we could talk with him about heritage from the past, differences and similarities between countries and was really helpful. Thanks for the tour!
This was the perfect way to travel and not waste a whole day in a car or plane. We got to see things that we would have never stopped for. Really enjoyed it!
A great mix of a beautifully renovated palace and a pilgrimage site made by & for people (not institutions). Rundale palace is managed with obvious respect for Latvian heritage (e.g. wearing plastic shoe coverings to protect the 1760ies parquet flooring), and its (rose and other) gardens really invite you for a post-visit stroll. The Hill of Crosses is unlike any other religious site I've visited before, is still expanding, and - although there were many tourists, the atmosphere still felt 'real'. Definitely 2 sites I'd recommend visiting during a Baltics trip!
A brilliant way to learn about the two countries and transfer between the capitals. Excellent value. Our guide was knowledgeable, passionate about his country. A tremendous experience
Great day, only the four of us on the tour as nobody else booked on it which was great, we were able to be picked up at our hotel instead of having to travel across half the city. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable about the sites he took us two and was not shy of getting into character. Tom/Paul/Dorothy/Harry
Tour was well organised and I could visit places that I wouldn’t reach by public transportation. Salaspils concentration camp was really interesting for me, a WW2 enthusiastic. Also, Hill of Crosses is something that you don’t see everyday. Tour is a interesting way to move from one Baltic capital to another and visiting places in between.
Our guide Mike was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I totally enjoyed the tour. All places were of interest and we had enough time to experience each stop. I would particularly recommend Salaspils, it was much better than expected. Lunch was very good. We had a range of ages on the tour, overall a very enjoyable experience.
Such a great tour. I couldn't think of a better way to explore Latvia and Lithuania. All the stop of points were of interest to the whole group and as we were on a private tour, Mike showed great flexibility in the schedule to tailor the day to us. Mike was full of enthuasiam and knowledge which added to the experience.
We were met on time by our excellent and friendly tour guide Mikelis. We had the opportunity to see the real countryside of Kurzeme travelling through pine forests and open farmland with rustic old farms some long deserted. At every point Mikelis made admission to places effortless for us. We enjoyed the museum of cloth dolls in Sabile and the local owner showed us many of the old relics of the past. We climbed to the top of the vineyard in Sabile for a spectacular view from one of Latvia's 'mountains'. Munching an apple, we reflected on the war and bloodshed which had taken place here in the past. On to Kuldiga and lunch of authentic Latvian dishes cooked perfectly and a modern presentation in a wonderful restaurant complete with jazz music. We walked around Kuldiga's old, unchanged cobbled streets and churches. before Mikelis took us down to the widest waterfall in Europe. The local museum which is free to enter was a calm and fascinating trip back in time. Do not miss this gem. Mikelis allowed us as much time as we wished at the sites and although we had no English we were able to discuss the experiences of his parents and grandparents in the Soviet era as we described the escape of my wife's mother, uncle and grandmother during the 2nd world war. We could not have wished for a better tour nor for a better tour guide in Mikelis. We learned much more about Latvia in one day than we had in the previous 10 days.
When you stay in Riga and want to get out of the beautiful city, definitely go on this tour. Jurmala is a very nice and beautiful area close to Riga with lots of hidden, and amazing spots, which you won't find on your own. Our guide Mikelis was amazing, and we learned a lot from him about Jurmala and Latvia itself. It was also very nice seeing him again, since we already went on another tour with him last year (bus tour from Riga to Tallinn). Thank you Mikelis for everything, we really enjoyed our time together :-)
We really enjoyed our recent trip. The palace and hill of crosses were fantastic and so interesting to hear the history of the two countries
Great tour - so many interesting places and stops!! Mikelis was so entertaining and chatty and shared so many interesting stories - it was great!!
Mikel’s passion for his heritage makes this day long trip fly by. He conveys realness to events of the Estonian & Latvian history over centuries. He shared a very patriotic song too. Excellent job!
Mike is a very knowledgeable guide and made our trip extremely enjoyable. Great way to travel from Riga to Vilnius!
Probably the best way to travel from Tallinn to Riga. Guide was on time, van was comfortable. Our guide Mikelis was friendly, attentive and knowledgable. Learnt a lot on Baltic's history and culture through the journey. Highly recommend this tour!
Well organised and very motivated guide
We weren’t sure what to expect when booking this tour, but our trip from Riga to Tallinn was awesome! Mike was a fantastic guide who had a love for his country and the Baltics, and he was very tapped in to regional facts, locations and folklore. We loved every minute of the trip. Highly recommend for anyone who wants to get off the beaten path while touring the Baltic states!! We saw some amazing things we wouldn’t have otherwise seen!
The tour was well organized, we had enough time to visit every place. Mikelis was sociable, comprehensive and engaging. He brought us into the spirit of the countries visited and I personally appreciated his passion and involvement. He definetly deserves a beer on you ;)
Mike has been a comprehensive and comitted guide. This is the real good way to learn a lot and making a transfer between two capital cities a memorable experience ! We recommend
The tour was one of its kind. We had a very rainy day full of activities that seemed to compensate for the gloomy weather. The giant swing in Viljandi was the best. Loved the Latvian wilderness...
There were 8 of us and our tour guide/driver. We stopped off at several places en route. The brewery where we stopped for lunch was great. We also did a short hike in a National Park and saw a typical small town in Latvia amongst other stops. Out tour guide was a very engaging pleasant and knowledgable young man.
It was a lovely way to travel from Tallinn to Riga and learn more about the country. The guide was great.
Great way to travel between Riga and Vilnius which allowed us to see and experience several key sights along the journey such as Rundale Palace, Hill of Crosses, Kaunas and Trakai. Mikelis was a great guide who was very knowledgeable, friendly and kind towards my elderly Mother who travelled with me. Overall the trip was insightful and efficiently and punctually run! Keep up the good work!
In a comfortable new 9-seat van we get an excellent tour not only about countryside between Riga and Tallinn, but also an historical&cultural overview with all its details about development of populatian, language, traditional food, music etc. Private story of family and experiences of our guide added to the normal facts made it very special. I recommend it to all newbys in Latvia&Estonia!!!
The tour did exactly what the website described and more. Mike sang, explained and made us pass an excellent time during these 10+ hours. We didn't see the time pass and learned so much about both Lithuania and Latvia. I would recommend it 100%. Merci Mike!
We had a comfortable seat to transfer from Tallinn to Riga. All we had to do was to listen to stories about almost integrated history and culture of Estonia and Latvia....the guide is not only a local but has astonishing knowledge about historical events about the two countries. Furthermore, he is quite passionate about his national identity which was demonstrated through his songs and storytelling. We learned so much, it’s almost overwhelming, but we enjoyed every moment of it!
I had this trip with my 3 friends and we will definitely recommend this trip. The places you visit are great! The guide Mike was perfect, his enthusiasm was great and he told us a lot about the history of Estonia and Latvia.
Great sightseeing along the way, bobsled track a highlight.
Great way to see Estonia and Latvia. Mike, our guide, was fantastic. Funny, knowledgeable with many a sing-song and a story, Stops were great. Lunch was a highlight, best meal I had in the Baltics and the cheapest.
Mike was a fine guide, he gave clear instructions easy to understand and to follow, therefore you never get lost ! He also shared with the group numerous examples of Latvian songs, which was very interesting. Altogether with the differents spots of the days, it makes this journey a unique experience.
We had a nice day with our guide Mike who showed us different sites in Estonia and Latvia. Great Trip, we recommand it.
The 12-hour trip went by very quickly and it was because the trip great. I got to see different sites that I wouldn't have been able to should I choose the 3 hour-long boring bus ride just to get from point A to point B. Mike, our guide, is very charming, charismatic, kind, and sweet. In addition, he is knowledgable. I really enjoy him, the stories he shared, and all the folks songs he sang. What a treat!. I was traveling alone, but I will do the same route next time I come with my partner.
This tour was a great decision with its combination of transport and sightseeing. Mike was friendly, knowledgeable and interesting. He obviously had a real passion for the areas we visited - he even sang stirring Latvian songs for us. We got to see places we would never have thought to visit and learn the basics of Lithuanian and Latvian history. Initially we thought this would be a difficult day due to its length, but the trip was broken into easily manageable sections and the time just flew.
After using Traveller Tours for our Riga-Vilnius trip, we booked them again to take us from Riga-Tallinn. Our guide "Mike" was great and we enjoyed all the stops along the way. I highly recommend Traveller!
The tour was a great way to see the country side for both countries, learn about the rich history, see the economic differences, visit cities off the map, and add to the European trip. Along the way we visited a brewery, military museum, national park, remains of a castle, and a national park. Our guide Mike was the best guide for such an experience as he told folklore and sang! This is a great way to see behind the scenes of the country. The 12 hours was long, and perhaps could be shortened to 10, but it was well worth the time, effort, and expense. Very much recommend it.
Very nice trip from Riga to Vilnius: the places we visited were impressive (concentration camp, crosses hill) or gorgeous (palace, Kaunas). My daughters especially enjoyed to have Mikelis ("Mike") as guide since they were all students. A splendid experience. Sincerely recommended!
Just took the tour from Riga to Vilnius. Our guide, Mike, was really friendly and personable, and made the trip for us. He kept up entertaining conversation as the picturesque fields rolled past and we chewed our Latvian “cow candy”. He also told his family’s personal stories as a means of highlighting the living history of this region. Also in our group was a family who had just taken part in the singing festival in Estonia, and Mike sang with them. A great host for a great trip. The trip itself was a set of places I would otherwise have no means of getting to, and that I may not have even known existed. I would highly recommend this tour and this trip!!
We had a fun day with mikelis 🎉
This is the best and easier way to visit all the interesting sites between Riga and Tallinn. You can find the full schedules in their website. The most interesting parts were hiking at the Gauja National Park, walking around the small castle town Viljandi, and the best was lunch at the Valmiermuiza brewery, they have the best beer in Latvia and the food was great! We can not possibly have such a wonderful trip without our guide, Mikelis! He was helpful and knowledgable, told us fun stories and even sang for us!
Mike (Mikelis) was an amazing driver. He know very well the history of the two countries and responded to all our questions. Great singer too!
Best choice to travel to travel Riga - Tallin. You travel with a group and within the travel time you can make good travel friends, you see places you would not even thought of visiting. The journey is broken up with stops at various stops. The driver/Gulde Michael - what can i say about him. He was AMAZING ...he drove safely, spoke with passion and his singing was amazingggggggggggg. Great tour
Mike was a fun tour guide and had a ton of knowledge about the history of the Baltics. He told a lot of jokes and even sang multiple times in Latvian for us. I was surprised at how quickly the 9 hour day went. All the stops were really interesting, with a good mix of city and nature. This tour was a good chance for us to visit places that we wouldn't have had a chance to otherwise and we had a great time getting to know our fellow travellers. I would highly recommend this sightseeing tour, especially with Mike as your guide!
Meeting open minded people from all over the world and being entertained by an knowledged guy. Learned about the history and fairies. Probably the best way to travel from Latvia to Estonia. We highly recommend.
Loved this tour. Mike made it so much fun with his lively commentary, his love of the region, and his own enjoyment in being with us. I enjoyed each activity. And it was well-paced. The 9 hours flew by and I felt no fatigue. Enjoyed the others as well. Excellent value for the money too. Thank you so much.
We enjoyed the stops on this tour and also had a great time trying traditional Lithuanian food for lunch. I particularly enjoyed the Rundāle Palace gardens and the Hill of Crosses. Overall, we were really happy to have Mike as our guide again, and he kept us entertained during the longer stretches of driving by playing us Latvian songs and pointing out storks/other animals along the road.
If you’re not in a hurry to get from one capital city to another, this twelve hour tour provides a nice sample of some of the rural gems between Tallinn and Riga. Our guide, Mike, was engaging, well informed, and fun. He shared both fact and fable, as well as several songs. The lunch at a country inn was outstanding.
This is the perfect way to travel from one capital to another. Just as our trip from Vilnius-to Riga was delightful, the trip from Riga to Tallinn was just as enjoyable and informative. Once again, our guide Mike could not have been more enthusiastic, personable, entertaining, and knowledgeable. He has a special gift. The day was long but never boring and, because of the variety of stops along the way, including a memorable walk through the state park forest and buying exquisite strawberries from a farm, it flew by pleasurably. We are world travelers, but this was a winner!
A cool way to see more than an airport or train station, in between Tallinn and Riga. While I love to travel by train, this bus tour made a lot more sense, gave me the opportunity to meet a local guide, as well as new friends. While we stopped a few times, my favorite two stops were the National Park and the bobsled track. Our guide Mike was great, interesting, funny, and very nice.
An amazing day with opportunity to walk around some special places, learning about the history and people of Estonia and Latvia. The stories, songs and descriptions from the tour guide were amazing. Also great opportunity to talk to fellow travelers. This is the best way I’ve ever traveled to another city.
We got to see places we wanted to see but would not have time such as Kaunas, Hill of Crosses, and the Rundale Palace. It had been a fun-packed day. The guide Mike was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable.
A wonderful way to travel from one capital to another, while discovering the sights and history. We enjoyed traveling with a small group (7 of us). The stops along the way were well selected and the restaurant for lunch an added bonus. But what really made the trip was our guide Mike, who was really well informed, personable, patient, and very considerate. We are looking forward to continue our discovery with him between Riga and Tallinn.
Loved this tour. Mike Kia made it so much fun with his lively commentary, his love of the region, and his own enjoyment in being with us. I enjoyed each activity. And it was well paced. The 12 hours flew by and I felt no fatigue. Enjoyed the others as well. Excellent value for the money too. Thank you so much.
We covered a lot on this tour: Viljandi castle ruins, Military museum in Valga, Gauja National Park, Cēsis, and Sigulda bobsleigh track. This was both good and bad: we got to see a lot, but it also felt kind of rushed. I feel like cutting one of the stops, maybe the castle ruins, and spending a little more time at the military museum or Cesis might have been nice. Otherwise, it was great!
We travel from Riga to Tallinn with Mike as our private driver- guide. We enjoy the activities and find them most suitable means to know the countries. Mike is very knowledgeable and communicate well in English. We are 4 seniors of age over 65 while Mike is just over 20. There is no communication gap. He is also entertaining. Thank you Mike
The trip to Jumala with our guide Mikelis was very interesting. Mike gave many information about Jurmala and about all country. He took us to wonderfull restaurant whre the meals were delicious. Thank You very much.
Michael, our guide and driver, was enthusiastic and knowledgable. His love for his country is infectious. I learned a lot!
The hill of crosses was definitely the highlight of the trip. Our driver/guide, Mikelis, was fun and entertaining and has a great singing voice. This is definitely way better than just getting a bus from one city to another.
We did this tour bus two days after taking the sightseeing bus from Tallinn to Riga and had the same knowledgeable and funny guide, Mike. We enjoyed all the stops on this tour and also had a great time trying traditional Lithuanian food for lunch. I particularly enjoyed the Rundāle Palace gardens and the Hill of Crosses, but the Rundāle Palace had so much to see that we could have done it as a day excursion. Overall, we were really happy to have Mike as our guide again, and he kept us entertained during the longer stretches of driving by playing us Latvian songs and pointing out storks/other animals along the road. Both of the sightseeing buses we took were great and I would highly recommend both of them!
This was without a doubt one of the most enjoyable and informative experiences of our trip so far. Mike was a fantastic guide who was very friendly, open, hilarious, and shared a lot of culture and history with us. This is worth the money. I would recommend it to anyone.
Mike was a fun tour guide and had a ton of knowledge about the history of the Baltics. He told a lot of jokes and even sang multiple times in Latvian for us. I was surprised at how quickly the 12 hour day went. All the stops were really interesting, with a good mix of city and nature, then concluding with a visit to the bobsled track. Some highlights of the day included going on a giant multi-person swing and learning the story of the Latvian "bear killer". This tour was a good chance for us to visit places that we wouldn't have had a chance to otherwise and we had a great time getting to know our fellow travellers. I would highly recommend this sightseeing tour bus, especially with Mike as your guide!
Michael, our guide and driver, was enthusiastic and knowledgable. His love for his country is infectious. I learned a lot!
Had a great start to the trip, our Guide, Mike, was very informative, sang some Latvian songs and happy to answer any questions we had. The drive itself was smooth. The lunch spot chosen was really nice.
We had a comfortable minibus ride and walked around the historic towns of Valga, Vaidava and Cesis, as well as visiting a small military museum and Helme castle ruin, and we also had a 1-hour walk in Gauja National Park. Lunch was in a pleasant hotel restaurant. Our guide was knowledgeable about the history and ecology of each place we visited and he gave a very interesting insight into his and his family's experiences of living in Latvia and the surrounding areas.
Really relax and easy tour. We have 8 people in our group, all lovely also. Our guide is also super friendly and helpful. We are so impressed. Surely recommended to friends.
Nice trip with relaxing landscapes of northern lands. The guide Mikelis has been simply perfect: good driveer, nice singher, and excelent guide. The time spent during the trip an the stay has been very friendly and nice. Only the last stop in Cesis has been not so nice compared with the others
We traveled from Tallinn to Riga with the sightseeing tour bus on April 25th. The pre-departure communication to confirm the reservation was very rapid: we were immediately informed as soon as the minimum number of participants was reached. We were just 4 so all the journey by van was very comfortable and pleasant. Mike was a great guide, entertaining us during the drive-time with anecdotes and curiosities but also assuring us nap-moments during longer transfers :) All the stop-overs were very interesting and has been great to see the passion and pride with which Mike told us the history of the Country and above all the conquest of independence. Everything were great, even if personally I'd liked to have more time to visit the sand cave with some additional explanation. I recommend for sure this tour, it's a good way to maximise the transfer from Tallinn to Riga, discovering and visiting places you probably wouldn't know otherwise. Thank you again Mike, you've been the icing on the cake of this tour :) kind, engaging, competent and passionate lead of the day!
It’s great experience that you’ll travel with a local guide. It’s perfect if you have any question especially history. It will not be just a transportation but a guided tour. Highly recommended!! :D
It was a very good day and tour with Mike, lots of fun and sightseeing with him. Thanks!
Mikelis had a pleasant personality, and spoke excellent English, so it was very nice to spend the whole day with him. We say some interesting sites in Estonia such as the medieval castle at Viljanis and were told about its history. We also got a good general impression of the Estonian countryside. The restaurant where we had lunch was very good. We had an interesting adventure in our family history during the 1905 revolution at an estate called Ulpisch. I had not been able to find it myself, but Mikelis knew the right web-sites to locate it and took us there! We were delighted and very impressed. The day was a resounding success and very enjoyable.
I had a wonderful adventure across the countryside with Mikelis and fellow travelers. We were provided to an inside look to the off the beaten path of what the countries had to offer. I would defiantly recommend this program for anyone wanting to get out of just the capital cities of the Baltic States and to see as much as possible as you travel from one country to the next.
Loads of fun and interesting stops :)
We had an excellent time on this tour. The stops are well thought out and give you enough time to understand some of the history and cultural background of the two countries. The guide Mikelis was brilliant and kept up his energy and enthusiasm throughout the whole day, with added Latvian folk songs! Would definitely recommend this tour.
One of the best tours I have ever been in.
The tour was excellent. Puntual pick uo, good itinerary, great guide, amazing visits and good doors. What’s not to like? Short answer, nothing.
Enjoyed the tour a little but I don’t think it’s something for me. It’s a long time on the small bus with other people sitting so closely to you. It’s more of a large car than a bus. I did really enjoy seeing the towns and the National Park and the guide was a lovely guy who knew a lot about the Estonia and Latvia. My partner enjoyed this tour more than I did. I don’t think it’s for everyone but you definitely won’t regret it.
That was great way to get from Riga to Tallinn & Mike is a very friendly tour guide
Had an amazing time on this tour. Turned a wasted travel day into a highlight of our trip. Our tour guide Mic was very knowledgeable and fun to be around. Would highly recommend this for anyone heading to or from Tallinn.
We recently took the Riga-Tallinn Sightseeing tour bus and it was one of the best experiences ever! We took a private tour as there was no public tour that day. Our guide, Mike picked us up from our hotel in Riga and led us for an amazing day trip. Our first stop was at the Bobsleigh track - it provided wonderful views over the area and was a fun trek to see an actual working ice track! Next, we visited the quaint old town of Cesis to pick up soveniors and grab a cup of coffee, Following that, the trek through the Gauja national park was definitely the highlight of the day - a chance to really connect with nature in a snowy walk. We then stopped for lunch near a Beer Factory, before heading to our last stop of the day, Viljandi to see the ruins of the fort. Finally, we were dropped off at our hotel in Tallinn with a day full of fond memories! Overall, a fun trip and definitely recommended to do!
Taking the small group tour between Riga and Tallinn was a great decision I made. The tour was fantastic and I got to see places in Latvia and Estonia that I would have not seen myself. Mike was an amazing guide, very thoughtful, kind and funny. He answered all the questions from the travelers so kindly and patiently and made sure everyone was going at their own pace. Glad I saw the picturesque small towns and spent some time outdoors in the Gauja national park. This trip comes highly recommended to anyone not wanting to do the drive themselves and wanting to see some beautiful places outside the cities of Tallinn and Riga.
I would recommend this tour to anyone that wants to have a great time! Mikelus is absolutely fabulous! Our guide was very knowledgeable and easy going. He is also a very talented singer. We visited castle remnants, a national forest, had a great lunch at a wonderful local restaurant. I would give this tour 10 stars if I could.
Eight travelers, 12 hours. Too long. Cut it to. 9-10 hours.
We had a fantastic time during this trip from Tallinn to Riga. The guide, Mikelis, was super fun and also a true professionist. He knew very well everything about the places he showed us. He made us feel very comfortable. Anyone who has to travel from Tallinn to Riga (or viceversa) should go on this trip, instead of taking a normal bus trip, because it's really worth the time spent and the money.
Tour guide is so knowledge about the nature and history.... but the best one is when we stuck in the forest , he tried to solve the problems. He ran so far away to ask for help even though the tools wasn’t work. Thank you for the guide.
This is a great way to combine the practicality of getting somewhere with some sightseeing. Our driver/guide, Mike, made the day fun and interesting. The trip takes you through the countryside to places you wouldn’t be able to go to unless you had a car. Mike told us many historical facts as well as some local folk stories. All vey interesting and informative. The small size of the group meant everyone could ask and contribute.
It is a really nice way to get from Tallinn to Riga. During the trip, you will be visiting a couple of cities on the countryside. At each city you will get a really detailed historical lesson from your guide while wandering around the nice places which is really enjoyable. Our guide even introduced some original Latvian songs to us. I really recommend this trip to you if you want to see the countryside and not only the capital cities of the Baltic area.
Had a great tour guide who loved to sing.
This tour definitely exceeded my expectations. We had a great group of fellow travellers, and our guide Mike was amazing. Every place we stopped at, he had such a great knowledge of the history of the area, and he sang Latvian folk songs so well! My favourite parts were the National Park (stunning, where we learned a lot about Latvian nature and folklore), and the military museum (where we learned about the horrors the Baltic states faced during the 20th century, but also the resilience of the Baltic people to overcome and look to the future). The food at the lunch spot was delicious too! My only regret is I didn’t have time to book more tours with this company (especially the one to Vilnius), but there’s always next time!
We had such a good time on our tour. Mike made it educational and fun.
We took a mini bus tour from Tallinn to Riga with a maximum of 8 passengers. It was a fun way to get to our destination. We got to stop at various sights along the way. Our driver/guide Michael was really knowledgeable and provided us with a lot of information. He was also a very safe driver. I would recommend.
My son and I joined the rest of the group travelling from Riga to Tallin. Our guide was Mikelis. He entertained us very well throughout the day with his local knowledge and even threw in a couple of folk songs. It was a great experience, visiting some really interesting places we would never of considered normally visiting. I would throughly recommend the trip to anyone wanting to travel between the 2 cities.
I had limited time so it was the best way to cover more places. Also unlike other group tours, this is in a smaller group which helped to have more personal connect. Guide had lots of interesting stories to share and ensured that no one is getting bored. Lunch place was also a very well chosen one.
Good 12 hrs day trip from Tallinn to Riga seeing the country side and with a good friendly guide cum driver.
Tour guide was punctual, friendly and entertaining. The tour is probably too long for the sights to be seen. The commentary was well researched and his pride in Latvia obvious. Excellent value for the money. The choice for lunch was excellent. However, we were somewhat dismayed by his manner at the trip end in Riga, just shrugging his shoulders when asked where our hotel was situated. It is the oldest hotel in Riga, his home, and a few minutes from drop off.
We were incredibly lucky to have Mike as our guide. The tour was extremely well organised and it was particularly nice to be guided by someone who clearly cares about their job and is passionate about his country and the subjects he is talking about. The tour is fantastic value for money and a great way to meet other travellers. Contrary to what other reviewers have said, the hotel lunch stop has quite a good range of vegetarian options and the meal was excellent value for money. I would recommend taking some snacks though as there is a long time between lunch and the end of the tour! A long day but well worth it. Paldies Mike for all your hard work.
I really enjoy taking the train as I travel Europe but this is not so convenient in the Baltic states. Thanks to the internet, I found this option to travel from Tallinn to Riga - TravellerEE. What a fun journey, our guide/driver Mikel sang Latvian folks songs and told us lots of tales as we stopped in several wonderful locations. Clearly he is passionate about his country and his enthusiasm makes the day fly by. It's 12 hours so we got some nap time in the van between stops. We had a wonderful lunch in Valga and we ended with a colorful sunset at the bobsled place combined with hot air balloons flying close by. My fellow travelers were interesting, fun, and adventurous strangers from Italy, England and Mexico(retired Americans). All of them making the journey a wonderful memory. Looking forward to my next journey - Riga to Vilnius trip.
We had a fun group of fellow travellers who made the most of every stop. Mikelis led us in swinging, hiking, singing and eating. He is full.of history and legends and passion for his country. I learned so much about the culture and the stories behind it. Delicious lunch stop. I never would have seen all these places, had all these experiences and made new friends for a day if I had not taken this tour.
While this leg offers a little less than the Tallinn-Riga leg in terms of the itinerary, Mike was an amazing guide and made the trip super enjoyable through his stories of the Latvian culture. We had nice conversations about our mutual traditions, cultures, people - way off the playbooks if I might add - which gave the trip a warm little touch. The sightseeing tour is a great way to visit places that don't usually fall on people's itineraries, as well as a great way to relate to the histories of both the states.
We are a couple with a small kid and have joined the private tour from Riga to Trakai. We have followed the suggested itenerary and visited several places of Latvia and Lithuania. Our guide, Mike, is very knowledgeable and explain plenty of history and culture of both countries. We are particularly interested in the modern history of Latvia and he did share a lot his understaning and view to us. We also learnt more about Latvians and thanks so much for his singing. We can truely feel the strong cultural atmosphere of the country and the happiness of the singing nation. We do recommend to join this tour. It is not only sight-seeing but also a much better way to know more about the culture and society of the baltic areas.
We spent a brilliant, fantastic day with Mike on our tour from Riga to Tallin, thank you Mike!! I recommend this trip for all the people who wants to travel this way: Riga to Tallin or back, enjoying the countryside and getting historically true/ real /interesting /rich information. We would happily repeat and repeat....
Ever felt you’re a lazy tourist? Want to see the best things on the countryside but you don’t want to bother with hiring a car? That’s why we took the air conditioned minibus trip from Vilnius to Riga. Several short stops showed noteworthy places, explained by the guide/driver. We also stopped by a forgettable restaurant - we ordered our meals well in advance, still we waited 15 minutes from when the first plate was served until the last traveller in the small group got his. This trip took over 12 hours, while an express bus makes the A to B trip in just over four. Traveller’s minibus is absolutely worth it. The stops are short but interesting, except the last one, a freedom monument on the grounds of a former concentration camp. It’s rather close to the city center. On the other hand, this was the place where our guide chose to share a bit of Latvian and family history, much appreciated.
It was a nice trip with a nice guide. He had a lot of stories to tell with a great bunch of knowledge. In our opinion maybe sometimes a bit too much information. For example in Gauja NP we would have liked to hike on our own instead of getting a guided tour. Furthermore the tour was too long for us. The last destinations were not that interesting to us anymore. It would be nicer to arrive in Riga earlier (6/7 pm) and skip 2 destinations.
Beautiful tour. All perfect.
I took both the Tallinn-Riga and now the Riga-Vilnius tour, and they were both excellent! Mikelis was a terrific guide and a safe driver. He is very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the history of the Baltic States. The 12 hours fly by with wondeful stops and great stories. I highly recommend this experience!
We decided to take this day tour from Tallinn to Riga so we could see sights along the way but also save time. Mikeliswas a great driver and guide and gave us plenty of information along the way at stops. We had 7 in our van and decided not to stop at tge Bobsled to get to Riga in time. Mikelis also entertained us with his Latvian singing. We would recommend this tour but please be aware it is 9am to 9pm.
Je recommande ! Merci à notre guide Mike, pour ses informations, sa disponibilité et sa grande gentillesse !
The tour was a great way to see Latvia/Estonia before getting to Tallinn. While it stops in Sigulda, the tour does not include the Bobsleigh so recommend going by train (or car) separately if you want to ride the bob sleigh (only on weekends). I enjoyed the stops along the way, but could have skipped the museum. Mikelis got us into Tallinn at 9 pm as promised. My favorite part was the Gaujas National Park which was beautiful, and Mikelis was very passionate about the park and the plants.
We loved seeing the beautiful town of Cēsis, going to the National Park and the Bobsled training facility. The only negative was, while our guide was very nice, he seemed very inexperienced, his stories wander a quite a bit, and he was only able to answer pretty basic questions. He should definitely have given us an overview of the day at the beginning of the day and let us know how much time it was going to take to get to the next destination.
The transfer from Riga to Tallinn was truly enriched by this tour. Charming historic towns and beautiful nature made for a perfect combination. Highly recommended!
There is a lot to see in between Tallinn and Riga. It was a long day, but well worth it. We enjoyed quaint towns, castle ruins, sandstone cliffs, and even a bobsleigh track. Our guide, Mike, took good care of us.
First of all, I want to say that my guides were incredibly entertaining and quite knowledgeable. A Estonian and a Latvian helped give perspective from both sides while also highlighting the shared bond between the Baltic nations. I hate to admit that we all said goodbye rather quickly once we reached Tallinn because everyone seemed tired...in my case I had partied the night before in Riga so staying up was a challenge. I’m very glad I took this specialized tour, made my adventure in the Baltics truly unforgettable and unique. If possible, please pass on my info to both guides. Would love to reconnect. They shocked me at the end of the trip announcing that it was Mick’s first day on the job. Quite a twist. He’s a pro. On LinkedIn: Juan G. Perez On Instagram (pics of the tour): juanygpa I forget my girl guide’s name, the Estonian, my apologies
